Rapid City chase suspect faces new charges for separate crime

Posted:

A Rapid City man who was shot by a SD Highway Patrol trooper after a chase on Interstate 90 arraigned on separate charges Tuesday morning.

27-year-old William Chandler pled not guilty to aggravated grand theft of more than $1,000. The incident allegedly happened in August.

Chandler is also in the middle of court hearings for a separate incident that happened in September. Authorities say Chandler led officers on a chase after a Highway Patrol trooper tried to pull him over, and for that he has charges ranging from aggravated assault to escape.

His attorney asked for the charges to be consolidated so one judge handles them. Chandler will next be in court in January.
