Prosecutors will disclose evidence before trial of RC man shot by trooper

Posted:

A Rapid City man who was shot by a State Highway Patrol trooper after a chase on Interstate 90, wants the state to disclose evidence before his trial.

Monday afternoon, 27-year-old William Chandler told Judge Janie Kern he wants the state to disclose tangible and demonstrative evidence before his trial. Prosecutors agreed to that.

Authorities said Chandler led officers on a chase after a highway patrol trooper tried to pull him over in September. He was arrested but escaped his handcuffs and stole a squad car.

Chandler also told Judge Kern he'd like to change lawyers. Judge kern said he'll have to write a letter indicating why. That issue will be discussed at his next hearing on January 6th.
