East North Street construction on hold until March

A road improvement project North Rapid is shutting down for the winter.

A public meeting was held Monday addressing the suspension of work on the East North Street project with the onset of winter.

South Dakota Department of Transportation Engineering Supervisor Steve Palmer estimates that the project is 75% complete and expects work on Phase 4 to pick back up in the spring, "As soon as the weather breaks for us, we are hoping somewhere around the first part of march, get back into that south half of the intersection of east north and lacrosse street, finish up that last portion of work there".

Traffic on East North will be fully open once temporary pavement markings from Racine to Herman Street are completed, and will remain open until work resumes.
