Cold weather slows the re-opening of major Rapid City intersection

Posted: Updated:

Update: Intersection is now open.

Frigid temperatures are the cause for the delay re–opening of a major Rapid City intersection.

Road construction at Sheridan Lake Road and Jackson Boulevard was originally scheduled to finish up for the winter Monday, but the recent cold temperatures are slowing the plans.

While the intersection has been re-opened, traffic will be restricted to a single lane in each direction on Sheridan Lake Road across Jackson Blvd until construction is completed later.

The South Mountain View Road detour will also be removed, as will the temporary signals at Jackson and Arrow Street.

Crews are expected to resume work in the spring to finish grading and surfacing eastbound lanes of Jackson Boulevard.
