Lisa Bainter joined the KOTA team as a weather forecaster in November 2013. .
Although she is not from South Dakota, she does have rural roots.
Her love of weather began at age three, when she would watch weather on television all day during the Missouri (MO) haying season to give her father a weathercast upon his arrival home from work.
Lisa graduated from Northeast R-IV High School in Cairo, MO, in May 2000.
After the tragic occurrences on 9-11-2001, she chose to abandon her dream of a degree in atmospheric science to be closer to her identical twin sister.
In 2004, Lisa graduated from Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing.
After the devastating 2011 Joplin, MO, tornado, she passionately began taking classes at Central Wyoming College (CWC) in Riverton, WY, to obtain a degree in atmospheric science.
In 2012, Lisa became the first weathercaster on the student radio station at CWC, 88.1 FM, KCWC.
Lisa moved to Rapid City in August 2013 to attend the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and pursue a Master of Science degree in atmospheric science.
Lisa enjoys spending time with her husband, Todd, and their domestic short-haired cat, Dante.
