Bond reduction denied for Kyle man accused of vehicular homicide

A Kyle man has pleaded not guilty to slew of charges including first degree manslaughter, vehicular homicide, aggravated eluding, and DUI.

The charges stem from a fatal car crash in Rapid City in October.

Police say 36-year-old Jimmy Pilcher caused a collision on the intersection of North and Spruce Streets that killed 40-year-old Tamara Hunter.

Friday morning, Pilcher had to use a walker to go from jail to court.  He received a pelvic injuring in the fatal accident.  In front of Seventh Circuit Judge Thomas Trimble, Pilcher's attorney requested a reduction to his $500,000 bond.

Prosecutors opposed a bond reduction due to the severity of the charges and the fact Pilcher is a two-time convicted felon for drug distribution and possession.

Judge Trimble denied the request.

If convicted for first degree manslaughter, Pilcher faces up to life in prison.
