Rapid City police investigate liquor store theft, clerk fires gun

A Rapid City liquor store clerk took matters into his own hands after a man stole two bottles of vodka.

According to Rapid City Police Spokesperson Tarah Heupel the theft took place Thursday at Canyon Lake Liquors on Canyon Lake Drive.

The clerk reported that the man entered the store and stole two bottles of vodka. He fled on foot with another man that had been waiting outside the store. The clerk grabbed his handgun and chased the suspects, firing a shot into the air.

The suspects dropped one of the bottles and continued to flee.

They were not located. The investigation is continuing.
