A deep freeze continues to grip KOTA Territory.
The cities of Sturgis and Yankton have canceled the Christmas parades, Rapid City has shutdown it's Main Street Square ice rink and the Salvation Army is decreasing the hours for bell ringers.
Many roads are slick with ice and snow. High winds are blowing snow across streets and causing drifting in some areas.
The cold is expected to remain into next week, with lows dipping to minus 30 in parts of Montana and Wyoming.
The jet stream is much farther south than normal, allowing cold air from the Arctic to reach deeper into the country.
A new storm is expected to develop in New Mexico and west Texas on Thursday and move into Oklahoma and Missouri on Friday. Ice could develop and cause power outages.
