Housing complex for low-income elderly to stay in Rapid City

A low-income housing complex for the elderly in KOTA Territory is here to stay.

Memorial Park Apartments, next to the Club for Boys, was owned by a dual partnership between Pennington County Housing and a private group in Sioux Falls.

J.P. Duniphan, chairman of Pennington County Housing, says Pennington County Housing will be buying the building for $300,000 with a $780,000 loan.

Duniphan says there is a need for properties like this. "We have ever increasing senior citizens, the economy has provoked, some more people that need housing and need help, and we also service veterans that are coming home, so there's not going to be an end to that need," said Duniphan.

Duniphan says if the housing group had the money, it would buy more housing to accommodate the great need.
