The holiday season is here, and what better way to kick it off than with a fun-filled day in Main Street Square in Rapid City.
The square was packed with people watching ice skating performances and skating themselves or visiting with Santa. But the highlight of the day was the lighting of the tree.
First the crowd and skaters were warned the lights were being turned off. Then, after a count-down, the 30-foot blue spruce was brought to life with cheers from the crowd.
The donated spruce was actually taller than it is now, but 10 feet were cut off.
