The Historic Homestake Opera House provided the venue for an afternoon of cowboy music and poetry Sunday.
Eight performers donated their time and talent to people who paid for $20 tickets or premium $50 tickets. Among the talent was Dave Stamey, a four time entertainer of the year.
Robert Dennis, another entertainer, says before the event started they had already collected $7,000 and tickets were still being sold. Money from a silent and live auction would add to that amount as well.
Dennis says the decision to raise money for devastated ranchers was obvious. "To help my neighbors. I ranch and we were out where some of the hardest hit were, and there was a livestock loss by very good people, and we just thought 'well, this is a way we could donate money and raise some funds to go to rancher relief,'" said Dennis.
