The air will be filled with the sound of ringing, as the Salvation Army kicks off its Red Kettle Campaign in the Black Hills Friday.
The Red Kettle Campaign is easily one of the most recognizable campaigns across the United States with volunteers ringing bells and asking for people to donate money for those in need.
Red Kettles will be scattered at 22 locations across the Black Hills including Safeway's, Family Thrifts, the Rushmore Mall, and Baken Park.
Steve Noecker, a Salvation Army employee, says it's all about giving people a happy holiday. "What we look for is to make enough money so people can have a decent holiday dinner, and there's a toy drive and make sure all the kids that need toys get some toys," said Noecker.
The fundraising goal for the Black Hills is $161,000.
