Two portraits of Gov. Bill Janklow were unveiled Friday. The portraits were funded by donations from Janklow's family, friends and former staffers.
The family of the late Governor commissioned Watertown artist Joshua Spies to paint the two official portraits of Janklow for display in the Capitol. The first portrait represents Janklow's first two terms as Governor from 1979 – 1987. The second portrait represents his second two terms from 1995 – 2003.
Gov. Dennis Daugaard, Pam Roberts, First Lady Mary Dean and the former Governor's son, Russ Janklow, all spoke at the ceremony and members of the Janklow family were present.
