Rapid City is in the running for a convention contest

Rapid City is in the running for a contest about the best city to hold a meeting or convention.

People with the Convention and Visitors Bureau say Rapid City is a great place to have a convention, because there is so much to do in and around the city, especially since the downtown has been revitalized.

The Midwest Meetings contest pits Rapid City against Des Moines, Iowa, Quad Cities, Illinois, and Branson, Missouri.

"A lot of people around the United States don't realize what Rapid City has to offer. And the meetings that we do have here, everyone is very pleased with everything they see and get to do in Rapid City," said Lisa Storms, with the Rapid City Convention and Visitors Bureau.

People can vote  for their favorite city on the Midwest Meetings Facebook page.  The contest ends Friday, November 15, and the winner will be announced on November 19. The winner will receive a four page spread in the Midwest Meetings Magazine.
