Vintage 1960's military training glider on display for Veterans Day

Posted:

A group of KOTA Territory Veterans honor the day by showcasing a vintage aircraft.

The Black Hills Soaring Club put the "Dakota Flyer", a replica glider from the 1960's on display today at Scheels.

The Schweizer SGU 2–22c was the first post World War II training glider for military pilots.

The Schweizer flew many combat missions through a number of US conflicts.

Charlie Summers of the soaring club bought the aircraft 6 years ago and restored it to its current condition.

Summers says the "Dakota Flyer" is still in operation and still serves a purpose for training pilots on gliders.
