The fate of the city of Lead's only indoor recreation facility was in the hands of voters Tuesday November, 5th.

In the special election, taxpayers decided whether the city should keep funding the Handley  Center.

Residents started a petition drive that called city funding for the center to be terminated.

Petitioners had more than 200 signatures and city commissioners approved the petition and decided the issue will be put to a vote.

The Handley Center was built in the 1980s, and has always been funded by the city.
