Bond reduction denied for Rapid City man accused of kidnapping

Posted:

Due to the severity of the charges, the $1 million bond will not be reduced for a man charged with kidnapping in Pennington County.

Manning Richards, 21, is charged with first-degree kidnapping and aggravated assault.

Monday, Richards' attorney requested his bond be reduced because he has strong ties to the community and little criminal history.  Prosecutors say the bond is appropriate because he terrified his victim by holding a gun to his head and making him drive around.

Seventh Circuit Presiding Judge Jeff Davis denied the bond reduction.

Richards faces up to life in prison for the kidnapping charge. He will be back in court on November 25.
