Costumes & candy….It's the perfect combination for a great night for kids all over KOTA Territory.
Thursday evening in Rapid City, Central High School students hosted their first ever "Safe Halloween" party.
Hundreds donned their costumes ... With bags in hand to carry all the goodies.
Almost 200 high school kids volunteered to provide a safe, warm place to trick– or– treat ... And the kids seem to be enjoying it.
Rapid City Central senior Jesse Riddle said, "One of our main goals a Central body is to kind of change the norm, that's why you see 150 to 200 students helping out here day. Instead of being out doing bad things, we're helping out & giving back to the community and that's really what our goal has accomplished this year".
Dressed up as a monster high doll, 7 year old Jamiliah said she was "having lots of fun and the games and candy are my favorite part".
The event also served as a fund raiser to reward students who volunteer in the community.
Students say they have plans to make it bigger and better next year.
