KOTA-TV and its satellites sold to Schurz Communications, Inc.

Bill Duhamel, President and General Manager, announced to employees Thursday that Duhamel Broadcasting Enterprises (DBE) has sold KOTA-TV and its satellite stations to Schurz Communications Incorporated. 

The sale is pending regulatory approval by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in Washington, DC.  FCC approval traditionally can take at least 90 days.

DBE will continue to operate its five Black Hills radio stations.

The Schurz company is headquartered in South Bend Indiana.  It consists of seven business segments: Broadcasting Radio, Broadcasting TV, Cable TV, Newspaper Publishing, Shoppers, Commercial Printing and Digital Media.  Schurz operates 6 local radio stations in the Black Hills and owns and operates the American News newspaper in Aberdeen. 

Its Senior Vice President of the Electronic Division, Marci Burdick, is a Rapid City native, and was a former KOTA news anchor and news director. Burdick said, "Our goal for KOTA-TV is to expand content across traditional platforms (TV and radio) and in the area of new media for the benefit of listeners, viewers, and advertisers.
