Volunteers from other states clean up storm damage in KOTA Territory

As the community comes together to work through storm clean up from the October blizzard, visitors from other states are volunteering their time to help out.

Southern Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers, 25 in all, came from Illinois and Nebraska to help clean up tree debris.

The group is staying at the Sturgis Fire Department.

Larry Thomas, director of volunteers from the Kansas-Nebraska chapter of Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, says they do this work as a way to show God's love on earth.

Milton Lang, a homeowner with Relief volunteers working on his backyard, says he is so grateful this group is here to help. "I just think it's great there are organizations like this that are willing to go out and help people like, for myself I'm disabled, my partner is disabled, and it's just a miracle and a blessing," said Lang.

If you need help cleaning up after the storm, please call 2–1–1 and volunteers will be out to assist you.
