Homeowners fume over cut down trees

Some homeowners on West Boulevard are not happy with the storm clean up company brought in to trim damaged trees. Sunday morning some tree trimmers from the company Ceres cut down a tree on West Boulevard. The tree was in front of a house and had already been trimmed of broken limbs.  And the homeowner did not receive notice. The tree was on right of way, between the side walk and the street.

Some neighbors thought they deserved some warning before the company began cutting down whole trees in the neighborhood. Homeowner Larry Beezley says there should be more notice given to homeowners before a tree is cut down near their home. "It seems like someone came in here rather quickly without knocking on a door without speaking with the homeowners to down a tree that I know has been there for years or better" he said.

Mayor Sam Kooiker was on the scene of the chopped up tree. He says this situation frustrates him and he thinks there should be a better process for determining what trees need to be cut down. He said " we've already changed the process as of right now that there will be no entire trees cut down in the future without having a better consultation process  than what happened this morning."

We reached out to Ceres to allow them to explain why they cut down the tree but they declined to speak with us.
