SD Highway Patrol shows its appreciation to truckers

They are the lifeblood of our economy and are often forgotten.

Tuesday, the South Dakota Highway Patrol hosted a Trucker Appreciation Day at the Tilford Port of Entry.

The Motor Carrier Services division served up bratwurst, chips and drinks as a way of saying thank you to the drivers of the near 400 big rigs that cross their scales daily.

Port of Entry Manager Larry Bryant says the day is all about good customer relations and showing the truckers they are grateful and more than just enforcement.

This is the 8th year the Highway Patrol has hosted the Trucker Appreciation Day at weigh stations throughout the state.
