Some students and staff with the Cobbler Café from Central High School were recognized Monday night for their solution to a social concern.
The Rapid City School Board honored Austin Trapp, Cobbler Cafe manager and others with the Sustainability Award at the city council meeting.
The Cobbler Café is a place for students and staff to buy snacks after school. The proceeds go to helping students in need to buy bus passes, food and clothing.
Internship coordinator at the school and Cobbler Café employee Ralph Knickrehm says working at the café isn't about awards. "It's always nice to get recognized but it really feels good you know every day to see the kids getting what they need and providing that support for them" he said.
The Cobbler Café qualified for the Sustainability Awards because of their efforts in sustaining the youth.
