It looks like South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard will have another conservative contender to face in the next election.
Former state representative Lora Hubbel announced her plans to run for South Dakota's CEO.
Hubbel, a Republican, has publicly come out against Obamacare and Common Core Education Standards, and believes the Governor and other South Dakota Republicans have 'sold out' on these issues.
Hubbel said she recognizes it will be an uphill battle, but there is too much at stake to avoid the fight.
"There's too much to change in South Dakota. There's too much going wrong in South Dakota that needs to be changed. For my kids sake, and for your kids sake, something has to change and I think I can do that."
Daugaard spokesman Tony Venhuizen said the governor is focused not on the campaign but on the next legislative session, the devastating early October blizzard in the Black Hills and the effects of the recently ended federal government shutdown.
