One KOTA Territory college opens its doors Saturday to welcome perspective students.
The School of Mines welcomed 130 high school juniors and seniors who are looking at the degree, athletic, and extracurricular programs offered.
School of Mines representatives have been on the road for the past six weeks at college fairs and visiting high schools to get the word out.
Prospective students from across the Midwest, and as far as Maryland visited the school.
Instructors hosted department open houses, which included in depth looks at classrooms and labs. Staff say the amount of interaction the school programs offer is a big hit with the students.
"They just love that the experiences at the School of Mines are just so hands-on, and not just sitting in a classroom listening to a professor. That's of course part of it, but when you actually apply what you're learning in the classroom, that just makes it a lot more meaningful," said Molly Frankl, Director of Admissions for the School of Mines.
The School of Mines holds four of these open houses a year. The next one will be on November 9th.
