Rapid City's new marketing plan announced by CVB

Posted:

Rapid City's image is getting spiced up. The Rapid City Convention and Visitor's Bureau has begun its rebranding, which it hopes translates into more revenue for the city.

Community members and business owners came out Wednesday to hear the new marketing plan for rebranding Rapid City. The project known as "Rapid City Forward" has been in the works for a year. The bureau hired a destination marketing firm out of Virginia Beach to complete this project. Art Webb, the company's president, addressed the crowd with his ideas for the future image of Rapid City.

CVB Executive Director Michelle Lintz says rebranding will really help the tourist industry.   "Everything that we do as far as marketing, we do it for our hotels and our restaurants and our attractions so they in turn will make a better profit at the end of the day"  Lintz said.

The event also included a workshop about how to use social media for marketing purposes.
