Black Hills Power nears end of power outage restoration

About 27,800 customers have been restored since the conception of Storm Atlas.

On Monday, about 200 customers remain without power. The majority will be restored by mid-week. Of the 200 customers, BHP service crews continue to complete service and reconnects in neighborhoods throughout remaining week. Restoration in the following key communities include: Rapid City, Sturgis, Belle Fourche, Spearfish and Keystone. BHP is also preparing for anticipated severe weather conditions that may cause challenges.

Customers without power may be waiting for customer-hired electrician to repair the service mast prior to service reconnect by BHP. Customers being informed of potential need to hire a licensed electrician to repair their meter can and/or overhead service mast prior to power being restored. Those customers are being notified of their restoration date.

Customers can contact BHP at 800-839-8197, go to our website at, or visit our Facebook page at
