Pennington County Emergency Management has been working diligently to identify and obtain locations for Livestock Carcass Drop Points. Over the weekend all livestock along county rights-of-way were picked up and disposed of at the drop points.
Beginning Monday, these two sites are open and ready to receive carcasses. Private producers with carcasses can also use these sites FREE OF CHARGE. We worked with the State, DNR, the Animal Industry Board, South Dakota Historical (archeologists) and local land owners to construct and establish sites that follow Animal Industry Board (AIB) guidelines in regulation 12:68:03:05.
Owanka Drop Point: Base Line Road between Sharpe Road and 173 AVE (T1N R12E sec 36)
Quinn Drop Point: 237th ST. between 197th AVE and Big Foot Road (T1S R17E sec 16)
For a map of these locations, please visit www.rcpcem.com.
A reminder that all producers need to document all livestock losses with location, pictures, vaccination and hauling receipts, ear and/or ranch tags, sex and type along with a 3rd party verification. If you have questions contact the SD Brand Board 605-773-3324. Proper documentation is critical to ensure processing of potential claims.
