Competition thrives at Deadwood's Oktoberfest

Beer. Brats. And weiner dogs. A storm couldn't keep Deadwood from hosting its annual Oktoberfest Saturday. Pie eating and weiner dog throwing contests were just a few games played at this years Oktoberfest in Deadwood.

There was plenty of beer. Buddweiser provided the kegs and got the beer flowing as spectators enjoyed the many contests. Ten teams entered the coveted Beer Barrel Games in hopes to win the trophy.

Pie eating contest winner J.D. O'Rourke said this is his second year winning that particular event.   "It's always a good time down here. Drink a few beers, have a few laughs" O'Rouke said.

Main Street in Deadwood was closed off for the event. People were allowed to carry their open beer containers around Main Street until 6 p.m.
