One person is dead and two others are in the hospital with serious injuries following a vehicle accident Friday night.
At around 9:30 p.m., the Rapid City Police Department, Rapid City Fire Department and the SD Highway Patrol responded to a four vehicle traffic accident at the intersection of E. North Street and Spruce Street.
A 2005 Chevy Impala was being pursued by deputies of the Pennington County Sherriff's office.
The suspect Impala was being pursued due to reports of the driver attempting to run other vehicles off the road.
Pennington County deputies were engaged in the pursuit of the suspect for less than two minutes when the accident occurred.
The Impala struck three cars as it proceeded west through the E. North Street, Spruce Street intersection.
A passenger in the Impala was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect driver and one other passenger were transported to Regional Hospital with serious injuries.
Drivers of the other three vehicles were treated for their injuries as well.
None of the other drivers or passengers received life threatening injuries.
Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.
This crash is currently being investigated by the Rapid City Police Department's Critical Accident Reconstruction Team, (CART), and the SD Highway Patrol.
