South Dakota's lone House Representative hasn't seen the destruction from the blizzard, but she plans to by Sunday at the latest.
Representative Kristi Noem says her thoughts and prayers are with the ranchers affected by the storm. She says that she can relate to the ranchers because she personally has lost cattle, but nothing to this magnitude.
"Having a first hand account is going to help me make a case to get a strong livestock disaster portion included in the farm bill, to make sure that this protection will be retroactive to cover the losses that were incurred by so many ranchers in South Dakota."
Noem encourages people affected by the storm to reach out to her office. Her website has a special section for livestock assistance.
