Festival of Lights Parade will go on

A Rapid City tradition that unofficially launches the Christmas season in KOTA Territory will continue this year.

The fate of the beloved Festival of Lights Parade was up in the air after the two women who have organized the project for the last 15 years decided to retire.  In a turn of events last week, Connie Olson with Youth and Family Services volunteered to take it on.

This year, with the help of former planners, Carol Brown and Sue McCormick, Olson
will take the reigns.  "I'm really honored to be able to be a part of this parade," Olson said.  "Anything we can do to bring families together is something I want to be support," She continued.

The parade is scheduled for November 30.
