The Rushmore Halloween Carnival will have new leadership and a new location this year.
After 20 years of organizing the city-wide carnival, the original planners are stepping down and Rapid City Central High School students are stepping up. The carnival will be held at Central High School this year and it will be organized and run by students. "We really thought that it would benefit our students by having an in-house opportunity to do this and by having the safe Halloween here at CHS now we can involve a lot of kids right in our building and they can volunteer back," CHS counselor Tim McGowan said.
As always kids can come trick-or-treat and play games at the carnival on Halloween from 5 to 8 p.m. The event is open to children 12 and younger and their families.
If you would like to donate candy or money, contact Tim McGowan at Central High School. Also, any donations given the night of the event will be put in a scholarship fund for seniors who volunteer.
