With thousands still without power or the ability to prepare hot meals, 2 local agencies have teamed up to fill that need.
The Salvation Army has prepared more than 1000 hot meals and various food items for blizzard victims around the Black Hills.
The meals are then being distributed by the black hills chapter of the American Red Cross from Spearfish down to Pine Ridge.
Salvation Army Coordinator Maj. Jim Beardsley says that emergency disaster services is a very big part of their mission, as well as bringing comfort to victims, "The response is at least you are here. If we need a meal, we know you're here. That morale booster is really needed at this time."
Executive Director of the Black Hills Red Cross Richard Smith is encouraging citizens and victims of the storm to call 211 with any needs that they may be facing so that the appropriate agencies can help provide assistance.
