Rapid City woman sentenced for child abuse

A Rapid City woman will spend time in prison for child abuse. Thursday morning, 38-year-old Angelita Elk Boy was sentenced to four years in prison for aggravated child abuse. For her DUI charge she was sentenced for two years, and that will be served concurrently.

Seventh Circuit Judge Craig Pfeifle says although he has seen a dramatic change in her behavior over the past couple months, due to the severity of the charges, he felt prison time was appropriate.

Back in March Elk Boy left her 16 month old child alone in their apartment. The stove was turned on and the apartment caught fire. Fire crews were able to rescue the toddler.
