No travel advised in Spearfish area - KOTA Territory News

No travel ALLOWED in Spearfish area

The City of Spearfish has declared a snow emergency and restricted travel within the City of Spearfish.

Until further notice, no travel is allowed in the City of Spearfish with the exception of essential public safety and public infrastructure vehicles.

This changes travel conditions from no travel recommended to no travel allowed.

This decision is based upon the large numbers of downed trees and power lines combined with the snow accumulations.

People traveling for non-emergency reasons, are creating situations requiring a public safety response that takes resources away from emergency situations.

Although limited snow removal efforts are ongoing to maintain emergency routes for public safety purposes, the public should not view these snow removal efforts as lifting travel restrictions.

These routes are being maintained for public safety
purposes, not general travel. Enforcement actions may be taken for violations of this restriction.

A release will be issued when the restriction changes.
