A Rapid City man who shot another man in the head during an "after bar" party will spend the next ten years in prison.
Kelsey Reavis, 21, pled guilty to two counts of aggravated assault in August. He admits shooting 28-year-old Christopher Levin in April of last year because he wouldn't give him a cigarette. Levin survived the shooting.
During his sentencing Thursday, Reavis accepted responsibility for his actions and asked Seventh Circuit Judge Craig Pfeifle for a second chance. But, Judge Pfeifle called the case a "whisker from being a murder," one that deserves significant prison time.
He handed down a sentence of 15 years on each of the two counts but suspended five years on each. Restitution for Levin is still being discussed by the state and the defense.
