RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) _ A former South Dakota National Guardsman has been sentenced to more than two years in prison for stealing federal property.
Former Chief Warrant Officer Dennis Mallow, of Black Hawk, pleaded guilty earlier to theft of government property in the theft of more than $30,000 worth of items while he was the warehouse supervisor at Camp Rapid.
The 47-year-old Mallow resigned after 28 years with the Guard. He faced up to 10 years in prison and was sentenced Wednesday after a two-day hearing to 27 months, along with restitution. He already has paid back more than $25,000.
Another man charged in the thefts committed suicide last December.
