A global company is helping the School of Mines continue to be on the cutting edge.
The School of Mines unveiled its new "3M Biochemistry Laboratory" Wednesday.
The new lab has paved the way for a new Applied Biological Sciences degree that has been added this year.
Chemistry and Applied Biological Sciences Department Head Richard Sinden, Ph.D says, he's very excited to see how the new equipment can be used to further research in biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology, "Its a state of the art, modern lab where we can do a lot of modern technical applications. It's a beautiful facility, a beautiful new lab, beautiful new equipment that will allow us to do a lot of educational opportunities for students.
The new lab was made possible by a $200,000 donation from the company 3M which employs nearly 88, 000 employees worldwide including 70 former School of Mines students.
