About 65 jobs will be created in KOTA Territory thanks to a steel tank manufacturing company that broke ground on Monday.
In Belle Fourche it was the opening of the Industrial and Rail Park. The park's first plant, Permian Tank and Manufacturing, a Texas based company, was also introduced.
People, including Governor Daugaard, celebrated the ground breaking of the plant. Those involved with the project say Belle Fourche is the perfect location.
"I think Belle Fourche has an advantage with the rail going right through it and we're opening this Rail and Industrial Park because of being a hub of the shipping coming in and out of Belle Fourche," said Scott Peterson, president of the Belle Fourche Economic Development Corporation.
"We look to expand and continue to expand our operations in this area," said Jon Cohen, CEO of Permian Tank and Manufacturing.
Governor Daugaard says the state's unemployment rate is down and this will create a great opportunity for even more jobs.
"Permian Tank is a great addition to our manufacturing sector, about ten percent of the state's workforce is employed in manufacturing."
The plant will be open next July.
