The American Cancer Society wants people in the Rapid City area to help fight back against cancer and participate in a new study.
On Wednesday evening there was a kick off event to recruit people to spread the word about the Cancer Prevention Study-3 that will happen this October.
Adults who haven't been diagnosed with cancer can participate and they'll be asked to fill out surveys every few years for the next 20 years. Those supporting the cause say cancer affects everybody and this is a way to help.
"Here is your chance to fight back, here is your chance to be a part of something good to try to get some of the answers so we can do something for our children, grandchildren and so forth," said Roger Gallimore, the Executive Director of the YMCA of Rapid City and a community champion in this effort.
The goal is to enroll at least 600 people in the study. People can sign up at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center or Rapid City Regional Hospital October 22nd through the 24th. For more information, visit their website.
