Forty years and $3 million dollars in fundraising!
That's quite a milestone for the Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary.
During the 'Ruby Jubilee' celebration Wednesday, auxiliary members were honored for their achievement by a video documenting their history in Rapid City. The group formed in 1973 when St. John's McNamara Hospital and the Bennett–Clarkson Hospital combined, forming Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Suzanne Koehler, Vice President of Operations for Rapid City Regional Hospital, says fundraising is only one facet of the auxiliary. Koehler says it's the little things, like sewing pillows for patients, that seem to mean the most. "Those kinds of nice things, which really create a loving environment and feel for not only the patients we serve and their love ones, but also the staff," said Koehler.
The money raised by the auxiliary has gone to various projects, such as new equipment in the prenatal ward.
