The statements from two witnesses will be allowed in the upcoming kidnapping trial for a Rapid City man.
Virgil Bald Eagle is charged with three counts of second-degree kidnapping and three counts of assault on law enforcement related to an incident where he allegedly held his wife and a friend in his apartment against their will.
Two witnesses talked to police following the March incident. Thursday, Seventh Circuit Judge Robert Gusinsky ruled that their statements will be allowed at trial next week.
If convicted, Bald Eagle faces up to 90 years in prison because the state has labeled him a habitual offender.
