More parking options for visitors and patrons to the downtown area of Rapid City is in the works.
Tonight the Rapid City Council approved a plan for the entire main level of the Main Street Parking Structure to have metered parking.
Currently the side facing Main Street Square has 50 metered parking spots.
Now the structure will get 41 more meters on the south side of the structure.
Destination Rapid City President Dan Senftner says the purpose of the main level is to serve customers.
"It will cost you four dollars a day to park in Downtown Rapid City, and spend the whole afternoon and whatever your looking for to do downtown so you have some time and its customer friendly and it's for the public," said Senftner. "That's what the ramp is for."
The cost for the meters will be 100 percent covered by Destination Rapid City.
Senftner says you can expect more meters by November 1st.
