After years in the planning phase, dirt is moving for the construction of two new city pools in one KOTA territory community.
Work has begun on the new outdoor 50 meter pool on the south-side of the Roosevelt Aquatic Center in Rapid City.
The meter pool will be used for competitions and designed as
such, meaning it will have lanes and be used for lap style swimming only. It's scheduled to open in June of next year.
And Horace Mann Pool has officially closed it's doors and won't re-open until the new pools are constructed by 2015.
Horace Mann will be used for more for leisure and enjoyment.
The city of Rapid City has allocated seven million dollars for the two projects.
