After about 20 years live horse racing could return to Gillette.
Wyoming Horse Racing LLC met with Campbell County Commissioners last week to discuss bringing off track betting and eventually live horse racing to Morningside Park in the Cam-plex.
Wyoming Horse Racing LLC, not the city and county land board, would manage the operations and rent the facilities.
If the county commissioners approve the group's plan, an off track betting site could open in three to six months.
"They provided us with a draft resolution that we'll consider at a subsequent meeting. We're trying to get additional information on it and then we'll hope to make a decision by probably the end of September or the middle of October," said county commissioner Mark Christensen.
If the off track betting site is successful, live horse racing could come to the park in 2015 or 2016.
