Memorial Park pond reconstruction nearing completion

Posted:

One phase of the Memorial Park promenade project in Rapid City is nearing completion.

Construction on the pond will wrap up this month.  Additions include concrete retaining walls and back water fills.  President of Destination Rapid City, Dan Senfter, says over the next three weeks construction on five piers or fishing docks will be finished.  He says SD Game, Fish and Parks could stock the pond with fish by October.

There's one addition many people don't even know about.

"There will be a fountain, like you see at a golf course, not like a fountain at Main Street Square keep in mind. But it's a fountain a floating fountain in the middle of the pond to keep circulating the water  It will shoot up 30 feet and have colored lights on it at night," says Senftner.

The pond should be finished by Oct. 1.
