D.C. Booth Fish Hatchery gets reprieve from closure

Potential closure of the D.C. Booth Fish Hatchery in Spearfish is delayed - for now.

According to a post on the attraction's website dcboothfishhatchery.org/save-the-hatchery-from-closure, the historic hatchery will be given a reprieve from immediate closure on October 1st. But, it could be shut down as early as November 1st, 2013.

The Booth Society, the group who has been spearheading efforts to keep the hatchery open, received word from the federal government Friday morning.  But, it's unclear when further information on when hatcheries would or would not be permanently shut down.

According to the website, the Booth Society will continue advocacy efforts to keep the hatchery open.
