An autopsy was conducted Sept. 5 on the decomposed female body located off Iron Mountain Road on August 31.
It is estimated the woman was of middle age, possibly 40-60 years old, 5'8" to 5'9" tall, with shoulder-length brunette or auburn hair. The woman was found wearing a T-shirt and capri-style sweatpants. Her race could not be confirmed, however she was possibly Caucasian. Based on the condition of the body, the date of death is approximated at sometime in the last month.
The preliminary results of the autopsy were inconclusive at this time pending further forensic testing. Investigators have submitted partial fingerprints and potential DNA samples to regional and national data bases for comparison.
In addition, investigators have reviewed local missing person investigations and do not believe this case is related to any of those.
