Mental test results delay RC attempted murder trial

A Rapid City attempted murder trial is on hold until mental test results are in.

Elijah White Magpie, 20, is charged with attempted pre-meditated first-degree murder, aggravated assault on a police officer along with two counts of intentional damage to public property. The incident happened in late February at the Rapid City Public Library.

Wednesday, Magpie's attorney says the evaluation from the Human Services Center in Yankton is not complete. Doctors want additional medical records from when Magpie was a child.

If convicted on all charges, he could face more than 50 years in prison.
